The wood in this pen was inspired by the 200-year-old English Plane or London Plane tree that stands proudly near the Book of Kells Experience in the grounds of Trinity College Dublin. To pay homage to the tree and the Book of Kells (which was safely cared for in our town of Kells from the 800s to the mid-1600s, when it was moved to Trinity College Dublin for safekeeping), we have made this pen with English Plane wood, which has a very exotic, distinctive grain pattern and beautiful orangey tea brown colour.  

The Shannon fountain pen has a German-manufactured size six nib, which ensures a smooth writing experience even for the fussiest fountain pen users.

Fountain pen ink flows from an international standard-sized ink cartridge, readily available from all stationery shops worldwide. It is also open on this site.

We also include an ink pump with the pen, which allows you to use bottled ink. Fill the pump with your favourite bottled ink and insert it into the pen; you're ready to write.

Sustainability is high on everyone's agenda. By using one of our handmade pens and only replacing the refill, you help the environment by not contributing to the billions of plastic bottles that go to landfills every year.
