At Irish Pens, we aim to deliver your order efficiently and securely. Each handcrafted pen is carefully prepared in our workshop in Kells, County Meath, Ireland before being dispatched to its destination.

General Terms

  • VAT: We do not charge VAT (Value Added Tax).
  • Customs & Duties: International customs charges, import duties, tariffs and local taxes are the responsibility of the recipient.
  • International Orders: Import requirements are determined by the authorities in the destination country and are outside the control of Irish Pens.
  • Postal Delays: Delivery delays caused by customs, import regulations or postal authorities are outside the control of Irish Pens.

Delivery Method

  • All pen orders (excluding refills, bottled ink, journals and some accessories) are shipped using An Post registered track & trace service.
  • Tracking is available through the An Post website using the tracking number supplied with your dispatch confirmation.

Republic of Ireland Orders

  • Pen orders are delivered by registered post with a signature required as proof of delivery.
  • Journals are sent with a proof-of-delivery digital stamp.
  • Refills and bottled inks are sent by standard post.
  • If a registered package delivery is missed, An Post will leave a collection notice.
  • Uncollected parcels are returned to Irish Pens after the applicable holding period. A further postage charge will apply if the order needs to be dispatched again.
  • Once An Post confirms delivery or attempted delivery, Irish Pens' delivery obligation is considered fulfilled.
  • If a registered package is not received within 30 working days, please contact us so that we can investigate the delivery and, where appropriate, arrange a refund or replacement.

International Orders

  • International pen orders are dispatched from Ireland using An Post's registered track & trace service.
  • Tracking information is updated as the parcel progresses through the international postal network.
  • Once an order enters the destination country's postal system, subsequent tracking and delivery information depends on the receiving postal operator.
  • Irish Pens does not have access to additional postal tracking information beyond that made available by the relevant postal services.

USA Orders – Important Import Information

We are delighted to ship our handcrafted Irish pens to customers throughout the United States. Please be aware that orders shipped from Ireland to the USA are subject to US import tariffs/taxes and an associated administration charge.

These charges are separate from the price paid to Irish Pens and are determined under current US import requirements. Irish Pens does not determine, collect or control these charges.

As tariff rates and import requirements can change, Irish Pens cannot provide or guarantee the amount payable on an individual order. The exact amount due will be confirmed directly to you as part of the customs payment process.

Important – What You Need to Do After Dispatch

Once you receive your Irish Pens dispatch confirmation and tracking number, please begin watching for a separate customs payment email from:

noreply@mail.customspayments.anpost.com

This email will be sent to the email address you provided when placing your Irish Pens order. Please check your spam/junk folder as well as your normal inbox.

If an SMS notification is issued, it will be sent to the mobile phone number provided with your order.

The payment requested must be completed within five calendar days. Once payment has been received and customs clearance completed, your parcel can be released from Ireland for delivery to the United States.

How the USA Delivery Process Works

  1. Irish Pens handcrafts and dispatches your order.
  2. You receive your Irish Pens dispatch confirmation and tracking number.
  3. Begin watching the email account and mobile number used when placing your order.
  4. If import charges are due, you will receive the customs payment communication confirming the exact amount payable and providing a secure payment link.
  5. Complete payment within five calendar days.
  6. Once payment and customs clearance are completed, your parcel is released for shipment from Ireland to the United States.
  7. Your order then continues through the US postal network for final delivery.

Please note: If the required customs payment is not completed within the permitted period, your parcel may be returned to Irish Pens in Ireland.

Packaging

  • All inner packaging is recyclable, and outer mailer bags are biodegradable.
  • No bubble wrap is used.
  • Refills, bottled ink and some accessories are shipped by standard (non-tracked) post.

Estimated Transit Times (from date of dispatch)

  • Ireland: next working day (not guaranteed)
  • UK: approx. 5 working days (delivered by Royal Mail)
  • Europe: approx. 5 working days
  • USA: approx. 14 working days following completion of any required import payment and customs clearance
  • Canada: approx. 15 working days
  • Australia: approx. 15 working days
  • Rest of World: approx. 15 working days

Please note: These transit times are based on past experience and are estimates only. Customs processing and local postal conditions can affect international delivery times.
