Rare Irish Burled Elm with a story

This exceptional burled elm was sourced from a retired clockmaker in Ireland’s midlands, who had preserved small cuts of Irish-grown elm for over 30 years. Though much of the wood was plain, only a small percentage was beautifully burled—making your pen uniquely rare. The wood's unpredictable patterns, described as "manic" in character, lend each pen a dynamic personality and unmatched charm.

Adorned with luxurious rhodium and black titanium accents, this pen is fitted with a premium Swiss-made rollerball refill, ensuring a smooth, reliable writing experience. It accepts standard-sized refills that are available worldwide. We include a spare refill for added convenience.

A sustainable Irish gift

No trees are cut down to produce our pens. We use only salvaged or wind-felled Irish wood, and each pen sold helps plant a new tree in Ireland through our partnership with the Tree Council. It’s a gift that preserves Ireland’s past while nurturing its future.

Inspired by the artistry of the Book of Kells and made in our Kells workshop, the box measures 180mm x 116mm x 45mm and features custom walnut rests for one or two pens. Handmade in Ireland’s heritage heartland

Each pen is individually crafted by hand using traditional hand tools. It takes approximately three days to complete one pen, during which we carefully bring out the natural beauty of the wood. Your pen will be handcrafted from the same batch of rare Irish Burled Elm shown in our listing—but with its own distinctive grain and character.
