Shannon Eclipse Rollerball Pen – Handmade from 5,000-Year-Old Irish Bog Oak with Black Chrome and Gold Trim
Luscious. Earthy. Timeless.
The Shannon Eclipse Rollerball Pen is a bold fusion of ancient Irish material and modern luxury. Crafted from 5,000-year-old Bog Oak and finished with black chrome accented by gold, this pen delivers a writing experience that is as tactile as it is elegant. Whether resting on a desk or used in a boardroom, it’s a writing instrument designed to turn heads and spark conversation.
Inspired by Ireland’s River Shannon
Named after Ireland’s longest river, the Shannon Eclipse captures the flow of thought and expression. The pen's refined form and rich, dark finish reflect both the power and poetry of Ireland’s natural world. When you write with this pen, you hold a tangible link to a history older than the Pyramids.
A writing experience like no other
We install a premium Swiss-made rollerball refill with water-based ink that flows effortlessly onto the page—like a stream of ink from your thoughts to paper. The refill is a standard international size, widely available through stationers or directly from our website. A spare refill is included for your convenience.
A sustainable Irish gift
No trees are cut down to produce this pen. We use only wind-fallen or naturally reclaimed Irish wood. With each pen sold, a native tree is planted in Ireland through our partnership with the Tree Council. Built for a lifetime of use, this pen reduces reliance on disposable plastic pens that often end up in landfill.
Complete luxury gift experience
- Presented in a luxurious satin-lined pen gift box inside a black velvet pouch
- A detailed digital fact sheet describing the wood and usage instructions is included
- We supply an extra Rollerball refill as our thanks for your support

Have just received my pen and am delighted. The tactile nature of the bog oak is lovely, the overall finish is superb. Nice weight and comfortable to use. I'm a fan of a wider barreled pen and this fits the bill perfectly. My first Irish (and wooden) pen - so different from the resin Montegrappas, Viscontis and Leonardos (Italian theme!!) I have - but the quality, feel and finish of my Irish Pen is right up there. And the leather case is perfect!! Overall - expectations exceeded!!

I received this pen as a gift, my first impressions were it's a little big for my small hands and a bit heavy. Using it every day in the office for a couple of weeks now and I just love it, my wrist doesn't tire when writing as it sits so well in my hand and the ink flow is smooth(I went for blue ink)and makes even my writing look good. The colour of the bog oak is stunning and the overall look of the pen is very grown-up and executive. Thanks for the gift Michael and I wish Irish Pens good luck with their business.
