Woodland ballpoint Rhodium Irish Whiskey Oak | Fact Sheet

Your pen is called a

Woodland ballpoint in Irish Whiskey Barrel Oak with jewellery-grade Rhodium and Titanium accents

A small but meaningful gift to celebrate your words, your thoughts, and the moments you choose to put them to paper. Whether you’re jotting down dreams, writing heartfelt letters, or signing your next big idea, may this pen be a reminder of how powerful your words can be.

Wishing you inspiration with every stroke.

The wooden body of your pen was hand-turned, the pen was assembled, and it was posted, all from our workshop in Ireland's heritage capital, Kells, County Meath, by Catherine & Richard Daly.

  • The wood in your pen:

The wood in this pen comes from an Irish Whiskey oak barrel decommissioned from the world-famous distillery in Midleton, Co. Cork, where they craft the Jameson and Middleton Irish whiskey brands.
The colour of the oak has a lovely reddish hue, which comes from the years the whiskey and the oak barrel have interacted to produce the flavours and colours that make this Irish whiskey world famous. Now, you can hold a part of that history in your hands every time you use your pen.

  • The trim of your pen:

The pen trim is jewellery-grade Rhodium with Titanium Gold Rhodium accents, which complements the beautiful burled Elm.

  • Advance the refill:

To advance and retract the refill, twist the pen cap; the twist mechanism is German-manufactured to deliver a smooth but positive operation.

  • The refill in your pen:

Your pen is a ballpoint pen using a Parker-type ballpoint refill. With its oil-based ink, the refill delivers an excellent, easy writing experience. The advantage of the ballpoint is the versatility of surfaces it will write on, it's quick to dry and not prone to smudging. This refill is widely available in all good stationery stores and on our website. Click this link to order the refill for this pen.

  • How to change the refill

At Irish Pens, we are delighted to pay homage to the woods at the heart of our handmade pen by sponsoring the planting of Native Irish Trees in the forest of Avoca, Co. Wicklow, Ireland, through the Tree Council of Irelands tree sponsorship scheme. A proportion of the sale of your pen has made this possible.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago; the next best time is now.

 The pen case:

We supply your pen in a stylish black case that will protect it and ensure it is always at hand for use. We moved away from single-use pen boxes because putting a pen box in the bin is not part of our philosophy to reduce waste wherever possible.

We post our pen in a Jiffy Green padded mailer with no bubble wrap, and the bag that holds the pen and the information card is fully recyclable..

Over 4 billion plastic pens and their packaging go to landfills in the USA alone every year, so when the refill is empty, simply change it and keep using your pen. It's all the small things we do that help the environment.

If you have any questions about your pen, please contact us at richard@irishpens.ie. We will be delighted to chat with you; please enjoy your pen.
