The wooden body of your pen was hand-turned, the pen assembled, and posted, all from our workshop in Ireland's heritage capital, Kells County Meath, by Catherine & Richard Daly. 

  • The wood in your pen:

Irish Bog Oak is at the heart of your hand-crafted pen. This extraordinary wood predates the Pyramids, carrying a legacy of over 5,000 years. Its allure lies in its distinct feel, rich colour, and profound history. To preserve these qualities, we finished your pen with the finest beeswax, just as Ireland's best Bog Oak sculptors do, so you can experience the full depth of its ancient heritage every time you hold it. Sometimes you can even see the calcium in the bog oak. As Ireland's literary giants crafted timeless works, let this pen inspire your creativity.

 

  • The trim of your pen:

The pen trim is jewellery-grade Rhodium with Titanium gold accents, which complements the beautiful bog oak.

  • Advance the refill:

To advance and retract the refill, twist the pen cap; the twist mechanism is German-manufactured to deliver a smooth but positive operation

  • The refill in your pen:

Your pen is a ballpoint pen using a Parker-type ballpoint refill. With its oil-based ink, the refill delivers an excellent, easy writing experience. The advantage of the ballpoint is the versatility of surfaces it will write on, it's quick to dry and not prone to smudging.   • How to change the refill

 

At Irish Pens, we are delighted to pay homage to the woods at the heart of our handmade pen by sponsoring the planting of Native Irish Trees in the forest of Avoca, Co. Wicklow, Ireland, through the Tree Council of Ireland's tree sponsorship scheme. A proportion of the sale of your pen has made this possible.

 The pen case:

Each pen is housed in a satin-lined luxury case and sheathed in a plush black velvet pouch, offering a refined unboxing experience for you, worthy of its heritage.

We post our pen in a Jiffy Green padded mailer with no bubble wrap, and the bag that holds the pen and the information card is fully recyclable..

Over 4 Billion plastic pens and their packaging go to landfill in the USA alone every year so when the refill your is empty simply change it and keep using your pen. Its all the small things we do that help the environment.
