Emerald Green Laminated Wood Sheelin Pen with Black and Gold Titanium Trim – Handmade in Kells, Ireland

The wooden body of your pen was hand-turned, and the pen was assembled and posted from our workshop in Ireland's heritage capital, Kells, County Meath, by Catherine & Richard Daly.

  • The wood in your pen:

Emerald Green Laminated Wood embodies both strength and symbolism — a fusion of modern craftsmanship and Ireland's timeless heritage. The deep, lustrous green evokes the rolling hills, moss-covered stone walls, and vibrant fields that earned our island its poetic name, the Emerald Isle. Carefully layered and dyed to create depth and resilience, this wood captures the energy and renewal of Ireland's landscapes while offering a smooth, balanced feel in the hand. Writing with this pen becomes more than putting ink to paper — it's a quiet tribute to Ireland's enduring creativity, where nature, colour, and craftsmanship meet in perfect harmony.

  • The trim of your pen:
The trim is Black titanium and gold, which complements the beautiful colours in the laminated green wood.
  • The refill in your pen:

Your pen is a ballpoint pen using a Parker-type ballpoint refill. The refill, with its oil-based ink, delivers an excellent, easy-writing experience. The advantage of the ballpoint is its versatility—its ability to write on a wide range of surfaces— and its quick drying time and resistance to smudging. This refill is widely available in all good stationery stores and on our website. Click this link to order the refill for this pen.

  • How to change the refill

At Irish Pens, we are delighted to pay homage to the woods at the heart of our handmade pen by sponsoring the planting of Native Irish Trees in the forest of Avoca, Co. Wicklow, Ireland, through the Tree Council of Ireland's tree sponsorship scheme. A proportion of the sale of your pen has made this possible.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago; the next best time is now.

  •  The pen case:
We supply your pen in a stylish black pen case that protects it and keeps it always at hand. We moved away from single-use pen boxes because putting them in the bin is not part of our philosophy to reduce waste wherever possible.

We post our pen in a Jiffy Green padded mailer with no bubble wrap, and the bag that holds the pen and the information card is fully recyclable.

Over 4 billion plastic pens and their packaging go to landfill in the USA alone every year, so when the refill is empty, change it and keep using your pen. It's all the small things we do that help the environment.
