Handmade wooden letter opener with gold, chrome, or gunmetal trim from Irish Pens

Catherine and Richard Daly hand-turned, assembled, and posted the wooden body of your letter Opener from our workshop in Ireland's heritage capital, Kells, County Meath.

The wood at the heart of your Opener:

Irish Bog Oak is at the heart of your hand-crafted pen. This extraordinary wood predates the Pyramids, carrying a legacy of over 5,000 years. Its allure lies in its distinct feel, rich colour, and profound history. To preserve these qualities, we finished your pen with the finest beeswax, just as Ireland's best Bog Oak sculptors do, so you can experience the full depth of its ancient heritage every time you hold it. Sometimes you can even see the calcium in the bog oak. As Ireland's literary giants crafted timeless works, let this pen inspire your creativity.

  • The trim of your letter opener:
The trim is a bright Black Chrome.

At Irish Pens, we are delighted to pay homage to the woods at the heart of our handmade pens and letter openers by sponsoring the planting of Native Irish Trees in the forest of Avoca, Co. Wicklow, Ireland, through the Tree Council of Ireland's tree sponsorship scheme. A proportion of the sale of your pen has made this possible.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago; the next best time is now.

    • Each letter opener is housed in a satin-lined luxury case and sheathed in a plush black velvet pouch, offering a refined unboxing experience for you, worthy of its heritage.

Over four billion plastic pens and their packaging go to landfills in the USA alone yearly. When the refill is empty, change it and keep using your pen. It's all the small things we do that help the environment.
