Your pen is called a

Forest Rollerball in Irish Bog Oak

The wooden body of your pen was hand-turned, and the pen was assembled and posted all from our workshop in Ireland's heritage capital of Kells County Meath by Catherine & Richard Daly.

  • The wood in your pen:

Irish Bog Oak is at the heart of your hand-crafted pen. This extraordinary wood predates the Pyramids, embodying a legacy over 5,000 years old. Its allure lies in its distinct feel, rich color, and profound history. To preserve these qualities, we finished your pen using the finest beeswax, just as Ireland's best Bog Oak sculptors do, allowing you to experience the full depth of its ancient heritage every time you hold it. Just as Ireland's literary giants crafted timeless works, let this pen inspire your own creativity.

  • The trim of your pen:
The trim is chrome with black accents, which complements the beauty of the Bog Oak Wood.
  • The refill in your pen:

Your pen is a Rollerball pen using an international-sized rollerball refill. With its water-based ink, the refill delivers an excellent, easy writing experience. The advantage of the rollerball is the almost fountain pen glide of the pen tip on paper, it's quick to dry and not prone to smudging. This refill is widely available in all good stationery stores and on our website. Click this link to order the refill for this pen.

  • How to change the refill

At Irish Pens, we are delighted to pay homage to the woods at the heart of our handmade pen by sponsoring the planting of Native Irish Trees in the forest of Avoca, Co. Wicklow, Ireland, through the Tree Council of Irelands tree sponsorship scheme. A proportion of the sale of your pen has made this possible.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago; the next best time is now.

  •  The pen case:
We supply your pen in a stylish black pen case that will protect your pen and ensure it is always at hand for use. We moved away from single-use pen boxes because putting a pen box in the bin is not part of our philosophy to reduce waste wherever possible.

We post our pen in a Jiffy Green padded mailer with no bubble wrap, and the bag that holds the pen and the information card is fully recyclable.

Over 4 Billion plastic pens and their packaging go to landfills in the USA alone every year, so when the refill is empty, change it and keep using your pen. It is all the small things we do that help the environment.
