Irish Pens

Bishop William Badell Sycamore Spire pen and letter opener set

"Bishop Bedell's Tree", this sycamore was planted by him in 1632. Bishop William Bedell (1571) was appointed Provost of Trinity College in 1627 and 1629 became Bishop of Kilmore and Ardagh. He is essentially most famous for translating the old testament into Irish. He planted the tree in the original garden of the old bishop’s palace, which later became part of Kilmore churchyard, and when he died in 1642, he was buried beneath this tree. It is believed to be one of the earliest examples of this tree in Ireland. About 20 years ago, one of the limbs fell in a storm, and it's part of that limb we were lucky to receive as a gift in 2015—a very rare and beautiful wood.

We have named this pen because its shape reminds us of the Spire monument in Dublin's city.  A ballpoint pen with a stylus tip in a very high-quality chrome with gold knurled accents. Great gift set for any letter writer who likes the finer things in life. The letter opener will even make opening bills a bit of fun!!

As a personal, corporate or club gift, no other pen set in the world is exactly like yours!

Sustainability is high on everyone’s agenda; using one of our handmade pens and only replacing the refill, you help the environment by not contributing to the BILLIONS of plastic biros that go to landfills every year.

Give one of our fountain pens with our ink pump, and the only thing you don't use is the empty glass ink bottle that is recycled; how green is that!

Solid Oak Pen Box

Presenting a high-quality handmade writing pen for an extraordinary occasion?

Enhance your pen gift with an exceptional pen box. Our clients worldwide have asked us for a wooden gift/presentation box for our pens. So, to satisfy our clients, we have worked with a local master cabinetmaker to craft a solid wooden pen box handmade in Cavan from Irish Oak. Irish Oak, the "King of the forest", was the obvious choice for us as it represents many of Ireland’s qualities. Like our wooden pens, the box is as unique as your fingerprints.

We are reluctant to sell Rosewood boxes anymore because of Rosewood’s status as an endangered species.

We engrave your words directly into the Irish Oak. If you have any special text requests or perhaps a logo you would like engraved, please email, or call us any time to discuss.

The box is 180mm long, 70mm wide and 50mm high; 220 gm in weight bottom is lined with a green baize fabric with an oak pen rest. The hinges are an antique brass finish. Box is sealed with lacquer so not to hide any of the wood’s natural beauty.

We engrave our registered "The Trees" trademark on the lid of the box. The box is wrapped in branded tissue paper and then wrapped in a recyclable card to protect it during shipping. This is a 100% environmental option for that exceptional pen gift box.

The pen pictured was handmade by us; your pen will be of the same wood, as no two wood pieces are the same; that is your certainty that your pen will be totally unique. Like the pen pictured, we will select the most interesting wood to craft your pen from. It takes us about 3 days to craft a pen.
